Lightness of Being…

Salamaat,
Suroor tagged me on sharing six weird things about myself and spreading the weirdness around to six other folks.
 Here goes not much:

a) I am either extremely talkative or extremely quiet depending on the crowd. I can just imagine the argument that would ensue should two people from different spheres of my life meet and try to describe me.

b) Although I do love socializing, I need my time and space to breathe. If I go a couple of days without a nice walk/jog, I start feeling a build up of angst and negativity. It could be also the endorphins from exercising. It helps me clear my head, sort through my issue(s) of the day, and come home feeling really happy.

c) Pre-baby I used to be a night owl. Now I am ready to crash by 9 and 10pm feels like midnight. The upside is I can wake up as early as 4am and feel ready and energized to start my day. On those rare days we slept in till 8:00 am it literally felt like noon and my body actually ached. I also had the bad feeling that I had “wasted” most of the day.

d) I love hosting and I love guests. I love when my little condo is bursting with people, I feel it lighten up. Guests make me happy and when they leave I get a little depressed. Sufyan apparently inherited this gene, he throws open his whole bag of “tricks” when people come over. It’s adorable. I don’t mind the extra work and the motivation it gives me to “spring” clean when I know someone is coming over.

e) I used to bite my nails really bad. Now I make sure to cut them and file them, so that I don’t get tempted by the extra “meat” on my finger nail. I never outgrew the klutz in me though, who still runs into walls and doors. I used to think 18 would be the year the “sophisticate” in me would be born, then I was sure it was 21, then I swore it had be after graduation…Now let’s just say, I have befriended the “unsophisticated” in me.

f) My aunt once proclaimed “You are not a woman!” I hate shopping, malls make me claustrophobic. I like nice things, but I don’t have the patience to find them. Brand names don’t faze me, but I will buy something if I get it at a very good deal (yes the Fob in me still gets excited over a bargain). I somehow still pull it off, because I do dress stylishly and it’s important to me to look nice and coordinated when I go out.

I would buy books over shoes any day, and prefer to go to school (and be broke) over working as well.
